Diving around Verde Island, Philippines

Verde Island located in the middle of the channel separating Luzon and Mindoro islands is one of the best places in the Philippines for seeing large schools of fish and walls with coral in pristine condition.  Currents are often strong including down currents and it is best to dive on a slack tide and with a reputable dive operator.

  1. Verde Island is one of the reasons I’ll travel to Puerto Galera again and again. Verde is a beautiful site with a multitude of reef life. The premier site is two pinnacles that rise up out of deep water. Strong currents attract Jackfish, Sweetlips, Tuna and other large fish. Moray eels, sea snakes, nudibranch of all descriptions, sea turtles and lots of small fish. Hard and soft corals. Beautiful. Best of all, it is one 50 or so great sites within an hour boat ride of Sabang where I always stay when in the area.
